All persons working on construction sites in Victoria (this also applies in WA, QLD,  NSW, and SA), are required to hold a White Card (previously known as the Red Card) to prove they have completed basic, industry wide Occupational Health and Safety induction training.

Some examples of the construction industry (but not limited to) are: 
Housing construction, civil construction, repairs, refurbishment, renovations, carpentry, bricklaying, concreting, asbestos removal, plumbing, and roof, floor and wall tiling.

White Card / Red Card Course topics:

  • Understanding the Legislative framework
  • Knowing the responsibilities of employers, employees and contractors
  • Recognising potential hazards and understanding control measures
  • Dealing with accidents and incidents
  • Being aware of psycho-social workplace factors
  • Using signage and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)


White Card / Red Card Course outcome:

On successful completion of this White Card training course in Melbourne, you will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.  This will allow you to work in the construction industry while WorkSafe Victoria is processing your White Card.  You will also receive a State of Attainment for the unit of competency, CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.

Study Pathways:

The Construction Induction Card course will provide credit for the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry, a unit from the Construction, Plumbing and Services Integrated Framework Training Package CPC08


Employment outcomes:

This white card / red card course is a prerequisite for many employers in the construction industry.

Participants must possess basic English skills

Our courses are held in Kilsyth, Frankston or North Melbourne.  They can also be conducted at your premises in the Melbourne metropolitan area, and some areas of Victoria for groups of 6 or more students.
