WHITE CARD MELBOURNE COURSE STRUCTURE
This is a one day classroom based course. The course consists of an interactive presentation conducted by one of Start Trainings highly experienced trainers along with a practical exercise that teaches correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and identification of workplace hazards. The practical component is conducted by observing a real operating plumbing stock yard that has a variety of activites including forklift use, truck and vehicle movements. Course materials are provided. Please let us know if you need assistance with reading or writing.

WHITE CARD COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Although the White Card Melbourne course is a course in basic OH&S, our trainers will endeavour to broaden the knowledge of even the most experienced person in the class, while providing the necessary basic knowledge to those new to the industry. It is all about making sure everyone goes home safe from the workplace.
In Victoria, the only approved way a Victorian RTO can teach a White Card Course is by conducting a face to face course. Interstate RTO’s offer online White Card Courses and WorkSafe Victoria is obliged to recognise the card obtained in this manner, as they are national cards. However, there are construction sites in Victoria who will not allow you to work on their site if you have done an online interstate White Card course and you live in Victoria.
Our White Card Melbourne courses are conducted at our Ferntree Gully and Sunshine West Training Centres.
WHITE CARD COURSE OUTCOMES
On successful completion of this White Card training course, you will be issued with a Certificate of Completion. This will allow you to work in the construction industry while WorkSafe is processing your White Card. You will also receive a State of Attainment for the unit of competency, CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. Start Training will apply for your White Card to WorkSafe on your behalf and this will be sent to you by mail.

Our White Card Course is conducted at all our training centres located at Ferntree Gully, Sunshine West, Carrum Downs and Campbellfield. During your training you will be taught a range of onsite health and safety protocols including hazard indentification and selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do Start Training conduct White Card Training?
We conduct White Card Training at our Ferntree Gully, Carrum Downs, Campbellfield and Sunshine West training centres.
Our Ferntree Gully facility is located at Unit 3, 1825 Ferntree Gully Road, VIC. You can find our building behind Burdens Plumbtec (the large blue building). We conduct Forklift, Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform and White Card courses at our Ferntree Gully facility.
Our Sunshine West training centre is located at 16 Enterprise Way, Sunshine West and we also conduct Working at Heights, Confined Space, Elevated Work Platform, White Card and Yellow Card courses at our Sunshine West training centre.
Our Carrum Downs training centre is located at 8 Sonia Street, Carrum Downs and we also conduct Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, White Card and Yellow Card courses at our Carrum Downs training centre.
Our Campbellfield training centre is located at 2 The Crossway, Campbellfield and we also conduct Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, White Card and Yellow Card courses at our Campbellfield training centre.
What are the options for lunch and food?
A food truck visits Start Training’s Ferntree Gully Road facility every weekday (Monday to Friday) at 9.45am. This service offers a wide range of hot and cold food and snacks including sandwiches, pies, fruit, confectionery and drinks.
We have a student kitchen / cafe area with free fresh fruit, free fresh coffee and free biscuits. The kitchen area contains a large fridge, microwaves, toaster and a sandwich press that are free to be used by our students if they wish to bring their own food for the time they are with us.
We have vending machines located in our Ferntree Gully Road facility featuring a selection of drinks and snacks. The drinks vending machine serves Coca Cola, energy drinks and coffee milk amongst others and can accept coins, card (pay pass) and notes ($5 or $10 notes only). We also have a snack machine serving a variety of chips and confectionery which is coin operated only.
There are a number of shops and takeaways within a short distance of our Ferntree Gully facility including bakeries located at the Mountain Gate shopping centre, Red Rooster, On It Burgers, McDonalds, Subway and KFC. If you are unsure about their locations one of our friendly staff can direct you.
At our Sunshine West facility there is a cafe just 50 meters walk from our front door that sells a variety of fresh sandwiches, hot food and drinks at a very reasonable price. You are welcome to keep any food purchases on site within our kitchen facilities and make use of our fridges, kitechen benches and other applicances.
What time do the White Card Courses start?
Generally our classes begin at 8.00am each day Monday through to Saturday. Some of our classes begin slightly earlier at 7.30am, you will be informed of your class start time via a booking confirmation and a confirmation SMS sent to you a few days prior to your class. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your class start time to enable enrolment paperwork to be completed.
Are there any breaks?
Yes, we offer ample breaks throughout the day. Lunch and other shorter regular breaks are provided throughout the day.
What do I need to bring with me?
We provide all safety equipment necessary for your course including hi-vis vest and hard-hats where applicable. All you need to bring is a sturdy pair of shoes (no thongs please) and adequate clothing. Please note that during winter months the temperatures within our warehouse can be low, please come with sufficient warm clothing on cold weather days.
Will the training materials be provided to me prior to my class?
Yes, once you have been booked in you will receive an e-mail with all required materials attached. Hardcopies of the training materials can be provided on request and mailed out to you with sufficient notice.
I have difficulties with language, literature or numeracy, can I still complete the course?
Yes, we have a dedicated Student Welfare Officer that can assist you with your needs. We have successfully trained thousands of students including those with additional requirements. I just completed my LF-Forklift course at START Training and i could not be happier! The facilities and equipment are in perfect condition and if that wasn't enough Sergio and Dan made the experience 10times better! They were extremely nice, patient, welcomed any questions me and others had and most of all they focused on us learning everything we needed for this course while having fun and making studying easier!!! I've only attended the Grid-connect install course at this facility and that was a far superior to one I attended at Swinburne years ago. The practice set up in place was more thorough and the trainers had a good level of experience. The course does need to be longer, I'd say 1 week design and 1 week install, but this is a separate issue. I was impressed enough to enrol for the battery course here too.

I had zero knowledge and wasn't confident at all. But the trainers, Tamer, John and Jora are excellent in explaining, especially with examples for a good understanding, they are very patient in teaching the practical skills and theory. Trainers are very lively and engage the class with fun. Higly advise this place. They also provide one-on-one practical class if required with no extra cost. Office staff are excellent too.
