Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page. Here you will find answers to some of the more commonly asked questions from our students and clients. If there are any questions that you have that are not answered below or if you wish to have further clarification on any items then feel free to contact us and one of our friendly staff will be happy to help.

Start Training Locations and Facilities

Start Training have multiple locations around Melbourne. Our primary facility is located at Unit 3, 1825 Ferntree Gully Road, VIC. You can find our building behind Burdens Plumbtec (the large blue building). We conduct Forklift, Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform and White Card courses at our Ferntree Gully facility.

Start Training Earth Works division is located at 7 Hayward Road, Ferntree Gully, VIC just a short distance from our primary facility on Ferntree Gully Road. We conduct all our earth works training from 7 Hayword Road which is equipped with outdoor facilities that allow us to train the various plant we have.

We also conduct White Card and Working at Heights for our premise at 3/25-27 Graham Ct, Hoppers Crossing VIC. This premise is shared with one of our training partners (Trainix). We are located at the end of a block of factory units, look for the Trainix sign on the fence and drive to the end of the access road.

We have multiple types of Forklifts available for training our students including gas and battery powered forklifts. We also have Order Pickers, Counterbalance Forklifts and Reach Forklifts ensuring that you get maximum exposure to the many varieties of forklifts available.

Ferntree Gully Facility

A food truck visits Start Training’s Ferntree Gully Road facility every weekday (Monday to Friday) at 9.45am. This service offers a wide range of hot and cold food and snacks including sandwiches, pies, fruit, confectionery and drinks.

We have a large fridge that is free to be used by our students if they wish to bring their own food for the time they are with us.

We have vending machines located in our Ferntree Gully Road facility featuring a selection of drinks and snacks. The drinks vending machine serves Coca Cola, energy drinks and coffee milk amongst others and can accept coins, card (pay pass) and notes. We also have a snack machine serving a variety of chips and confectionery which is coin operated only.

There are a number of shops and takeaways within a short distance of our Ferntree Gully facility including bakeries located at the Mountain Gate shopping centre, Red Rooster, On It Burgers, McDonalds, Subway and KFC. If you are unsure about their locations one of our friendly staff can direct you.

Hayward Road Facility

At our Hayward Road facility we have a coin operated chilled drinks machine serving a small selection of soft drinks including Coca Cola.

There is a McDonalds located approximately 5 minutes walk away from our Hayward Road facility and within a short driving distance Mountain Gate shopping centre, Red Rooster, On It Burgers, Subway and KFC.

Class Information

Generally our classes begin at 8.30am each day Monday through to Saturday. Some of our classes begin slightly earlier at 7.30am, you will be informed of your class start time via a booking confirmation and a confirmation SMS sent to you a few days prior to your class.

Yes, we offer ample breaks throughout the day. An initial break is provided at 9.45am at which time a food van visits our Ferntree Gully location. Lunch and other shorter regular breaks are provided throughout the day.

We provide all safety equipment necessary for your course including hi-vis vest and hard-hats where applicable. All you need to bring is a sturdy pair of shoes (no thongs please) and adequate clothing. Please note that during winter months the temperatures within our warehouse can be low, please come with sufficient warm clothing on cold weather days.

Yes, once you have been booked in you will receive an e-mail with a workbook and other materials attached. The workbook should be completed prior to attending to ensure maximum time available for practical training.

Yes, you must complete your workbook prior to attending our class. Failure to do so may result you being denied access to your course on the day and a re-booking fee will be applicable. This is to ensure that students get adequate practical training on the machines and that the class isn’t being held up by those who haven’t completed the workbook.
