FACE MASKS

You must always carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave the home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

Face masks must be worn:
– on public transport, in commercial passenger vehicles such as taxis and ride share vehicles, and in tour vehicles
– by visitors to a hospital
– by visitors at a care facility (while indoors)
– indoors at shopping centres, retail facilities with 2,000 or more square metres of indoor space, markets and market stalls
– on flights to and from Victoria and at airports
– if you are diagnosed or suspected of having COVID-19, or a close contact of someone diagnosed with COVID-19, when leaving your home or accommodation for a permitted reason, such as medical care or to get tested while awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test when leaving your home or accommodation for a permitted reason, such as medical care (except as part of a surveillance or other asymptomatic testing program) while experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.

It is strongly recommended you wear a face mask when at a private gathering or when you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from other people (such as outdoor markets, outdoor concerts, street markets, at a busy bus stop or train station platform).

HAND SANITISER

We have an abundant supply of hand sanitiser available for free for our students and visitors. At Start Training we are always trying to support local businesses and this is even more important during the current Covid restrictions. That is why we have teamed up with our favourite local brewery Hard Road Brewery in Bayswater to supply us with hand sanitiser. Distilled and made to the current WHO recommended recipe our hand sanitiser is provied in convenient 50ml bottles that students are free to keep if desired.

SMALL CLASS SIZES & ROOM RESTRICTIONS

We have always run small class sizes to ensure our students get the best possible training. This will continue as normal with classes being capped at numbers that allow us to practice social distancing (see below). We have ample space in our training areas and warehouses to enable students to spread out if desired.

We have large classrooms with ample room for our students. Each classroom has the maximum number of occupants clearly labelled on the door based on the 1 person per 4m squared requirement.

GOOD HYGIENGE

All our staff are required to wash thier hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds using soap and water. Our staff will also be promoting the washing of hands and general good hygiene to all our students and visitors. We have increased the frequency of breaks to allow students ample time and opportunity to access wash facilities. We are following the best practice guidance as issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO) the details of which can be found here.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Our staff have been coached on social distancing methods including minimising unnecessary physical contact with students, maintaining distances of at least 1.5m where possible and preventing students changing desks during thier short stay with us. We have social distancing floor stickers throughout out training centres to help remind everyone of the required measures.

FREQUENT CLEANING

We have greatly increased our frequency of cleaning which was already at a high standard. Each of our training centres is now cleaned regularly throughout the day with particular attention to cleaning of surfaces, student desks and communal areas. We use medical grade disinfectant during our regular cleaning.

FREQUENT BREAKS

All our classes will have frequent and extended breaks to allows students and staff full access to wash facilities. The frequency of breaks will allow all to practice the recommended hygiene actions. Our students are free at any time during thier course to take a break if they feel they need to.

UTENSILS, CUPS & PLATES

We provide utensils, cups and plates etc. for our students at each of our training centres which are cleaned thouroughly in high temperature dishwashers after use. We recommend that each is used only once before being cleaned and any dirties can be placed in the allocated trays for staff to collect. Students are free to bring thier own utensils, cup or plates if they prefer.

HYGIENE SUPPLIES

At the moment we have ample supplies of cleaning products, sanitisers and toilet rolls. These are accessible to all or students and staff to use. If you notice any shortages at our training centres please let a member of staff know and they will replenish.

FOOD & EATING AREAS

Our kitchens, food preperations areas and student seating areas are cleaned frequently throughout the day to ensure a safe environment for our students and staff. We have ample indoor and outdoor areas for students to eat and achieve social distancing and have recently added additional eating and sitting areas in our training centres.

FREE RETESTS

We have always had a Free Retest policy at Start Training and that hasn’t changed. All our students still have access to this service and will continue to do so in the future.
